3rd Grade Teamletter
March 18, 2010
Mrs. Dempsey
Report cards are coming home today (Thursday, March 18th). Some students need to put more effort into their studies. Baseball/softball season will be starting soon but we still have weeks of school left so let’s stay focused!! We will be collecting “junk” for the next week. If you have anything you would like to donate please send it in to school. It must fit inside your child’s book bag and NOTHING will be returned! In other words, make sure this is truly something you don’t want to see again!! Please have your child practice multiplication facts nightly! Students that did not receive a demerit during 3rd quarter had a lot of fun at PORTA pool on Tuesday. Way too many kids did not get to go! I would like to see 100% participation in our next no demerit activity, so please speak with your child about their behavior if they were unable to swim on Tuesday. I will see some of you at conferences this evening or Friday morning. Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Wilson
Your child should be bringing home a biography to read. This is our next and last book report. The book should be finished by FRIDAY MARCH 26th. We will work on part of the report at school and the rest will need to be completed at home. More information will come next week
MATH FACTS!! Boy these are going slow. Please practice nightly!!! Memorizing facts are essential for division.
Many students are still on 3's and 4's. They only have to do 12 within 1 minute. Practice, practice, practice. As the quarter continues and the weather gets nicer the kids will be less and less willing to complete these. Better to get them done now than later.
We will be SCAMPERing in a few weeks. Students will become inventors and will do creative thinking, problem solving and divergent thinking to complete this assignment, but they need junk to do it. Some junk we've talked about bringing is anything broken or not wanted anymore. Ideas can range from cell phones, headphones, toasters, shoes, armless baby dolls, motorcycle helmet, lamp, CD's, calculators. We need this junk by March 29th. We're not looking for toilet paper tubes or aluminum cans or Q tips this time.
If you were not able to make it to your child's slideshow yesterday we will be presenting next Wednesday too. Please drop a note in the planner and let me know. We will present at 1:30.
